Failed or lifting lead flashing around the chimney base is a primary cause of roof leaks. We re-dress or fully replace lead flashing using code-grade lead sheet.
Chimney pot repair & replacement
Cracked, displaced or missing chimney pots allow rain into the flue. We replace individual pots or fit chimney cowls and caps to prevent water and bird ingress.
Flaunching repair
The flaunching — the mortar bed holding the chimney pots — cracks over time and allows pots to become loose and fall. We remove and re-lay flaunching to secure pots correctly.
Full chimney stack rebuild
Where a chimney is beyond repair, we take it down and rebuild it in matching brick. We can also reduce chimney height or remove stacks entirely where no longer needed.

How do I know if my chimney needs repointing?
Common signs include crumbling or missing mortar between the bricks, white staining (efflorescence) on the chimney, damp patches on the chimney breast inside the property, and loose or displaced chimney pots. If in doubt, call us for a free inspection.
How long does chimney repointing last?
A properly executed repoint using the correct mortar mix should last 20–30 years or more, depending on exposure. Using the wrong mortar — particularly cement that is too hard for older brickwork — can cause the bricks themselves to crack, so choosing the right mix matters.
Can you repair a chimney without scaffolding?
Depending on the height and access, some minor chimney repairs can be completed using a ladder. However, for most repointing, flaunching or flashing work we use scaffolding or a tower for safe access and a better-quality result.
Do you repair chimney stacks on all property types?
Yes. We work on all types of residential property including Victorian terraces, period cottages, modern detached homes and everything in between. For listed or heritage buildings we advise on appropriate materials such as lime mortar.
My chimney flashing is leaking — is that a big job?
Usually not. Lead flashing replacement is a contained job that typically takes a day or less and resolves the leak permanently when done correctly. We provide a free quote before starting any work.
