How we install your new roof

1. Strip and structural checkThe old covering comes off and we check the decking, fascias and soffits — any damaged or rotten timbers are replaced before new materials go on.
2. Breathable membraneA breathable roofing membrane is laid first to keep the roof watertight while letting it ventilate.
3. Treated battensTreated battens are fixed over the membrane, gauged to the tile or slate so every course sits true.
4. Tiles, ridge and leadworkTiles or slates are laid from the eaves up and fixed, ridges are mechanically fixed rather than mortar-only bedded, and all lead flashings are properly dressed.

For period properties we often recommend clay tile or natural slate to match the original appearance. Every new roof comes with a 15-year workmanship guarantee on top of the manufacturer's materials guarantee, and we can take care of chimney repairs, GRP flat roofing and guttering alongside the install.
